What is a Master Gardener?

Master Gardeners develop their horticultural expertise through participation in accredited educational training classes where they learn sustainable and research-based practices alongside others with similar gardening interests.

Master Gardeners go on to serve the home gardening public by answering questions, speaking to groups, writing gardening articles, working with youth, gardening in the demonstration gardens, participating in pollinator research program, and in many other ways.

Spreading the Gospel of Home Gardening

  • Education

I enjoy educating people of all ages about home gardening by sharing knowledge and skills that empower them to cultivate their own gardens at home. Through hands-on learning, I aim to promote the benefits and joys of gardening, encourage sustainable and native practices, and help people develop a deeper connection with nature and each other.

  • Awareness

My goal is to make everyone feel welcomed by nature. Like a translator between two worlds, Master Gardeners have an ability to break down complex gardening concepts into easy-to-understand information. Providing clarity on topics such as plant selection, soil preparation, watering techniques, and pest control, I empower others to create thriving gardens regardless of their stage in life, and level of experience.

  • Community

The positive impacts of home gardening on a community are endless! Gardening offers both physical and mental health benefits through physical exercise and stress reduction. Home gardens contribute to the beautification of neighborhoods, urban areas, and create more sustainable and eco-friendly communities.
